1. Open My Computer
2. Browse C: (or your Operating system drive)
3. Browse Windows –>System32–>drivers–>etc So the Location will be C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc In the etc folder look for the file hosts
4. Open this file hosts with notepad.
5. At the bottom of the file, add the line as shown below:
6. 127.0.0.1 www.websiteToBlock.com
7. Save the file.
Method 2 of 3: Windows Vista and Windows 7Web filtering method
1. Open Parental Controls by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under User Accounts, clicking Set up Parental Controls. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Click the account that you want to set up the web filter for.
3. Under Parental Controls, click On.
4. Click Windows Vista Web Filter.
5. Click Block some websites or content.
6. Click Edit the Allow and block list.
7. In the Website address box, type the address for the website you want to allow or block, and then click Allow or Block.
Method 3 of 3: Mac OS X
1. Open the system preferences pane. There is a shortcut on the dock that is shaped like a gear and says "System Preferences".
2. Locate "Parental Controls" and select it by clicking the icon with the mouse. If you have multiple user accounts enabled, you will be able to choose the account that you wish to apply restrictions to. Enter a password if necessary.
3. Click "Enable Parental Controls", this will bring you to the main menu for setting the parental control parameters for the Safari web browser and other programs on the Mac.
4. Locate the "Content" tab and click on it. Next, under Safari select the type of restrictions that you would like to enable. Choose "Try To Limit Access To Adult Websites Automatically" if you want Safari to block access to pornographic or other adult sites automatically. If you want to create a list of acceptable sites, select the option to "Allow Access To Only These Websites". Enter the names of the websites that you want to allow Safari to access in the table provided. When you are finished, exit Parental Controls/System Preferences and your changes will automatically be saved. Safari web browser will only allow access to the websites that you have specified.
